The European Agency Awards has shortlisted us in four categories for the 2026 edition: Digital Agency of the Year, eCommerce Agency of the Year, B2B Agency of the Year and B2C Agency of the Year. Last year Aviva Solutions made the shortlist for the first time, with a single nomination. This year we have received four nominations, all for our work with Plaisio.
We would like to walk you through what we built, how we approached it, and what made the collaboration so valuable.
Where these nominations come from
Plaisio is the market leader in consumer electronics, gaming and mobile devices in Greece and Bulgaria, with 40,000 products in its catalogue and 50 million visitors a year. The company grew faster than its old Sitecore platform could handle. The catalogue needed to keep expanding, campaigns had to go live faster, and visitors expected more speed and more functionality.
For Plaisio we built a completely new Composable Commerce platform: one platform with two storefronts, one for B2B and one for B2C. With it, Plaisio replaced the outdated environment and gained the room to grow, scale up campaigns and add new functionality whenever it is needed.
The results
The B2B storefront went live first and immediately showed what their new Composable Commerce platform is worth:
- +10% more orders
- +31% higher average order value (AOV)
- +19% larger average basket size (ABS)
- +32% higher daily revenue
The B2C storefront followed just before Black Friday, exactly the moment when performance counts. The platform absorbed that peak effortlessly and stayed stable and fast throughout the period, without visitors noticing a thing. And not to be forgotten: their average daily revenue rose by 22%.

An architecture that takes milliseconds seriously
To achieve these results, we worked according to the MACH principles with best-of-breed services that we selected carefully for each part of the platform. For headless content management we selected Contentstack for its strong omnichannel personalization abilities. We also brought in commercetools for product and order orchestration, Constructor for search and recommendations, Cloudinary for media, Vercel for the frontend, Contact Pigeon for customer communication and Talon. One for promotions and discounts.
Because we look at the challenge independently, we chose the service that fits Plaisio best for each function. For the B2B pricing we ran into a limit: no standard solution could show a unique price per customer and per product. In total, that comes down to 3.75 billion possible prices. We built a custom solution for it that calculates every price within 100 milliseconds.
Our Software Architect Joost Meijles adds: “When we designed Plaisio’s architecture, the goal was to give them the freedom to adapt. A composable, MACH-based setup lets us swap or add a service whenever the market shifts, without touching the rest of the platform. That is what keeps Plaisio in control of where it goes next and able to innovate at its own pace.”

What made the collaboration special
Our partnership with Plaisio began in 2017 and grew into a genuine relationship of trust. We aligned weekly, kept the lines of communication short, and solved technical challenges together, with the teams at Plaisio and at the connected services. That way of working is what makes every component fit together seamlessly.
Team lead Leo Wessels: “What stays with me most is how smoothly the collaboration ran between our team, Plaisio and our technology partners. Everyone stayed involved and sharp, even when things got complicated. You only build a result like this with a team that trusts each other and wants to move in the same direction. Seeing four nominations recognize the full breadth of that work makes me proud of everyone who helped build it.”
And Plaisio themselves? Project manager Socrates Fotiou: “The platform exceeds our expectations. Our biggest bottlenecks are gone: the catalogue can grow again, campaigns scale up and we add new customers effortlessly. We went live just before Black Friday and the platform kept performing without a hitch. What makes working with Aviva so valuable is that they stay involved after go-live and translate our wishes quickly into concrete solutions.”
Moving forward together after go-live
Building a platform is one thing, but helping it grow is at least as important. That is why Plaisio has moved to our Managed Services track, in which we keep working together on the platform’s performance and functionality. In recent months we added discount codes, made it possible to pick up online orders in physical lockers, and gave visitors the ability to compare products.
That way the value of the platform keeps growing along with what the business needs. The four nominations are a wonderful recognition of that work, and of a collaboration where technology and people come together.
