Introduction

Tomahawk is shortlisted for Best Use of PPC Campaign at the European Agency Awards. Spend has scaled roughly 160x since 2020, while ROAS has stayed within 15% of a demanding, margin-derived target throughout that growth. The shortlist is a proud moment for our team and recognises a five-year partnership that reflects how we believe performance marketing should be approached: with patience, strong data and a willingness to keep improving long after the first results appear.

Who we are

Tomahawk is a performance marketing agency based in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. We help ambitious e-commerce businesses grow cross-border, with a focus on sustainable, long-term growth.

We started in 2015 as an all-round online marketing agency. In 2019, we specialised our business, shifting our focus to performance marketing, e-commerce and cross-border growth. Today, our team of around 20 specialists works across SEA, SEO, social advertising and tracking in more than 30 countries. That specialisation allows us to go deeper into the challenges e-commerce businesses face. This ranges from entering new markets to making increasingly automated advertising platforms work more effectively.

Our approach is built around strong first-party data, structured PPC systems, senior expertise and international experience. We invest in server-side tracking and reliable measurement to give advertising platforms better signals, while our specialists stay closely involved with each account and the business behind it. Rather than looking at channels in isolation, we try to understand how advertising performance connects to factors such as product performance, margins and growth across markets.

We work in several small teams that work independently. Every team has a team lead and specialists in SEA, SEO, social advertising and tracking, so all specialisations are bundled within the team. This way of organising our company ensures that you work directly with the specialists running your account. There are no account managers involved or unnecessary management layers. The people who make the decisions about your campaigns are the same people you are in touch with.

The work behind the shortlist

A great example of our approach is Toolsvoordelig. Since 2020, we’ve grown their Google Ads account from a few thousand euros in monthly spend to a six-figure annual PPC budget. An in-house scoring model evaluates products daily on factors such as stock, margin, delivery time and historical performance, determining how products are segmented across campaign tiers, improving incrementality.

What this nomination means to us

For our team, the shortlist recognises more than the numbers alone. It reflects the work behind them, from improving tracking and challenging campaign structures to building better data models and developing a partnership that has continued to evolve over five years.

“The best campaigns are rarely the result of one clever idea. They come from continuously questioning, testing and improving what you’re doing. That’s how we approached this campaign together with our client, so seeing that work recognised at a European level is something we’re genuinely proud of.”

Roel Linssen, Director and owner at Tomahawk

Looking ahead

Digital advertising continues to evolve rapidly. AI, automation and privacy regulation are changing how campaigns are built and measured, but our philosophy remains the same.

Data is still the backbone of how we work. The same approach that helped grow Toolsvoordelig from a few thousand euros in monthly spend to a six-figure annual budget is now being applied across two additional webshops in the same portfolio, giving us confidence that the model can scale beyond a single brand. Being shortlisted for the European Agency Awards gives us even more motivation to keep refining that approach across the clients we work with.
